What a Subscription Means

Our published notes, articles, and other media are like “a living testament” to what our friends and students with GGM in Gaza are facing, challenged by, dealing with, and living through day after day -- as the genocide and brutal military occupation rolls over them; on and on, like Sisyphus, of the ancient Greek legend.
What it feels like: pushing themselves every day to climb up the mountain, to the top, and when they get through it, they’re back where they began all over again. Day. After. Day. And the next. And next. Repeat ad infinitum. ♾️
The children and our friends in Gaza are every morning waking to face what must surely feel like overwhelm. Waking each day under pressure, under distress, fighting for survival and seeking solutions, light, hope. We can’t even imagine what it must feel like. But we can try so we can empathize. Every waking moment the insistent, low hum or at times, loud roar, reminding you that you can’t rest here. There is no resting place. No way to replenish yourself. There are unanswered needs screaming at you in your head -- forever on in the background, never quieting, never allowing your heart and mind peace.
Every day our friends in Gaza must find ways to push through an “impossible-to-reach-summit-just-to-survive-today” anxiety; like Sisyphus pushing the weight of the world up the hillside day after day; or like Christian (the protagonist) in John Bunyan’s classic _The Pilgrim’s Progress_. Christian’s burden is carried on his back, the journey is long and treacherous, and it feels never-ending. The burden is overwhelming and the journey feels like it will never end. It’s important that the outside world see what is happening in Gaza. It’s important that human life be valued and honored and treated with dignity and respect.
The children in Gaza are going through much more than collective punishment of a people by Israel -- which constitutes crimes against humanity. They are going through a manmade hell of historic proportions. It is simply indescribable. Compassionate people must be intentional about finding out, experiencing the depths of it as much as is possible through virtual windows of time and space. Witness. Support. Gather others to build support. Share. Tell their stories. Help get their voices out to the world. Help them live. Help them hope. Help them be seen, heard, and held up -- out and away from the monsters trying to erase them -- so others can see and understand.
We each must do whatever we can to help them. It’s our moral imperative. We must.
